Eid-Ul-Fitr is an Islamic festival celebrated after the Holy month of Ramadan. In the holy month of Ramadan, people do Fasting. Eid is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal. “Eid-Ul-Fitr” translates as “the festival of the fast breaking”.
Day of the Eid:
On the day of Eid-Ul-fitr, Friends and relatives greet each other. They exchange presents and sweets. New clothes are worn this day.
People visit mosque for the Eid prayers. They recite a short prayer which is known as Takbeer. People are obliged to donate some money to charity, called a Zakat-al-fitr.
Beginning of Eid-Ul-Fitr:
Eid-Ul-Fitr begins with the first sighting of the new moon (crescent moon). The starting day varies every year and from country to country based on geographical locations.
